I Ching, The Oracle of the Cosmic Way
Published by Anthony Publishing. Written by Carol Anthony and Hanna Moog. This book is the best I Ching I have used. It was written with guidance from the I Ching itself. It is a new version of the I Ching that is updated to reflect our current state of affairs in society and on our planet. This book gives you the tools to "deprogam" distorted truths, allowing one to uncover their core inner truth of what is cosmically correct. The book is available through Amazon.com, it is also available directly from Anthony Publishing at ichingoracle.com

I have been having trouble keeping my dog in the backyard for the last two months or so. He has tried digging under the fence and when we blocked those openings, he began ripping 2x4's out of the fence and escaping that way. It's clear he doesn't want to get away from home because he comes back to the house and waits to be let back in. I am afraid of him being hit by a car or hurt by a roving pit bull or being picked up by the pound. So I consulted the I Ching about why he is ripping up the fence. The hexagram I received in response was 43 - Resolution/Breakthrough (!!!) and 34 - Using Power. While it is clear that the dog is exerting his will by finding new ways to escape the yard, it seemed clear to me that it was also referring to the fact that there has been a block on my own will connecting with the senses and that this was an area I need to work on by deprogramming seed phrases that imprison my will. The rtcm confirmed this +++. Using "power" like chicken wire and other obstacles will not work on him. I have no idea if this insight will help me see what's going on with the dog but I do suspect that he may be acting as an animal helper pointing to a way in which I am blocked and couldn't see otherwise. All the ways in which my ego tries to control me (and the dog) will not work if my will is aligned with my senses. This is what I take from this hexagram.

What does the I Ching say about the predictions for the year 2012? (Part I)
That the I Ching contains a prediction about the year 2012 is in itself a contradiction. The I Ching warns against prophesies because they can create disturbances that would otherwise not happen.
We asked the Sage, the voice that speaks through the I Ching, “What is the Cosmic perspective regarding the predictions for the year 2012?” The answer was given in two hexagrams: Hexagram 20, Seeing, and Hexagram 41, Decreasing. The quotes are taken from our book, I Ching, The Oracle of the Cosmic Way.
Hexagram 20, Seeing. Line 1, Paragraph 2:
“The ablution has been made, but not the offering” refers to “relinquishing the personality props and crutches, roles and masks devised by the ego. This offering has not yet been made. So long as the person remains attached to the ego and its self-images, he will not know what it is to live life within the Cosmic Unity.”
Commentary: This text points to the human-centered view of the universe, which, if left to run its course, would lead to the end of life as we know it, because it is based on conflict. Because the need for humans to end this view would lead to the demise of the collective ego, the latter would call its fall “the end of the world.”
Line 1. Boylike seeing. Paragraph 3.
Commentary: “Boylike seeing” refers to relying on models of reality that have been passed down century after century without question, as, for example, seeing the earth as the center around which the sun revolved, as people did before Copernicus published his astronomical findings in 1543. While the evolution of science dispensed with this false idea, the medieval view that humans are the centerpoint around which the universe revolves still persists.
The text points to the need to free oneself from the two ideas that support the human-centered view: “The eyes see the truth,” and “If you want to know the truth about something, look at the way it shows itself.”

What does the I Ching say about the predictions for the year 2012? (Part II)
Hexagram 41, Decreasing, Line 4.
The Judgment: Decreasing, combined with sincerity, brings about success without blame. One may be persevering in this. It furthers one to undertake something. How is this to be carried out? One may use two small bowls for the sacrifice.
Commentary:
The Sage informs us of the need to free ourselves of the prediction that the year 2012 will bring the end of the world.
It is also saying that the true threat to the world is the human-centered view, and the dominance of the values of the collective ego. The main problem of the human-centered view is that it denies the existence of the myriad helping energies of the Cosmos (called Helpers in the I Ching), which are invisible to the eye. This denial results in their inability to help us. To free them to help us, we need to free ourselves of the idea that “there is no help for us humans from the Cosmos,” and give up our anger at the Cosmos for not helping us.
Also in relation to 2012, some people believe a “quantum leap” in consciousness would need to be made to cope with the situation, while simultaneously doubting that such a quantum leap is possible. They believe, as a consequence, that “humankind will go down.” The I Ching shows us that it takes only a few people who are fully aware, and who do the necessary deprogramming, for that knowledge to penetrate to the many. This penetration occurs on the invisible plane, and transmits to the inner truth of all others, where it is capable of “moving mountains.”
Line 4. If a man decreases his faults, it makes the other hasten to come and rejoice. No blame.
Commentary: The “faults” that need to be decreased are mistaken ideas that describe the nature of the Cosmos and human nature as “faulty” or “lacking.” The I Ching shows us that lack is the result of excluding the Helpers from our view. The lack observed needs to be understood as a fate created by this view. The resulting reliance on abstract knowledge, or any mechanistic approach to avoid a presumed catastrophe, cannot resolve the issue of the sustainability of life. Such an approach is only a continuation of the same mindset that has created the problems. A real transformation in consciousness is necessary. This can be attained only through the penetrating ability of a conscious recognition of Cosmic truths, and a sincere request for help from the invisible world. The first step is to say NO to the ideas that have maintained the human-centered view, and to say NO to dire predictions whenever they surface. Doing so leads to ending the blame and the fate.

I would like to share some important realizations about one of the core themes of the new I Ching. I used the Wilhelm version for years and it was of definite help; but the new version is light years ahead, most appropriate for our age.
I grew up in a kind but highly repressive and perfectionistic family. I was taught to totally focus on being a "good boy." I carried this into academics, and then worst of all, 35 years with powerful and demanding gurus. I ultimately drove myself to a very bad internal crash trying to constantly meditate.
What the "new version" of the Oracle has helped me see is that I was never comfortable until I was EXTERNALLY "approved." It was always someone else who held the truth, who could say I was OK, not me. I deprogrammed this misconcept and, amazingly, was mostly freed of it overnight.
I had never been comfortable doing something that wasn't "approved" by the current teacher of the moment -- always something that would carry me "higher" in my evolution. I separated myself from society as much as I could for someone who worked full time. Nothing fun, no TV, nothing "frivolous": it all had to have "purpose."
Finally, all of that is going away. It was a very heavy load that never let me relax.
The other part of this is all the self-images one creates to offset the real inner feeling that one is worthless. The glorious self-images of the "enlightened" person, one who understands more, helps others, is free from "low" actions and thoughts, generous, etc. These self-images made me subtly or not so subtly arrogant my whole life. It's quite a shock at this point to see what my earlier life was really all about, and the falsity of what underlaid it.
I am very grateful for the help I have received and have to say that, as the Oracle states, it's often not until we experience a complete "burnout" that we are awakened to the real reality of our condition.
For readers of this blog that are or have been involved in meditation groups, I would strongly recommend the serious use of the Oracle to understand that, in my experience with hundreds of people, most of the people involved in these groups are simply trying to compensate for poor self-images. This is a humbling realization, but it is true for me and for so many of the people I knew in these groups.
Let's be grateful that the real truth of life is available and that there is help to find it.
