It came to me that there isn't a place on the web for I Ching users to share their storys of working with the I Ching. I have been working with the I Ching for about 35 years. I was first exposed to the I Ching when I was a teenager and my mother was using it. My mother, Carol Anthony, is the author of A Guide to the I Ching and co-authored with Hanna Moog,  I Ching, the Oracle of the Cosmic Way.  I would like to hear about other's experiences using the books and please let me know if you would like other catagories added.

        Hi Maryjane,

I think I need to figure out how to change a setting so I know when someone posts something. I will try to figure it out. I hadn't checked for a few days. Thank you! - Leslie

      Hi,

Thank you for providing this forum~ It is fresh to speak with others who are "on the same page," so-to-say, with regards to the Sage and the Helpers, and the I Ching: Oracle of the Cosmic Way.

Something wonderful for me grew directly out of an experience Carol and Hanna drew upon, on the ichingoracle.com website, some years ago (see "New Shortcut Method," March 2004, in the "Shared Experiences" forum).

Generally ever since that period of time and working with the new shortcut method, the Sage has been able to help me immensely with what I need exactly..!

In a nutshell, when it seems like it perhaps is time for another reading, I ask the Sage through the rtcm if this is the case? If it is, then a hexagram is drawn.

If a line(s) of a hexagram is drawn, then with the rtcm method, words are drawn first from the text contained in that line, generally inquiring as to "is there something in this line to focus more upon?"

Then, when the text of the line(s) is past, I ask if there is more words to locate, whether it is in the main text, in another hexagram, or sometimes in guessing what would follow from a "rough" look at what has been gathered thus far.

Once this is completed, then with the rtcm, words are singled out line-by-line as to if they need to transform.

This can be somewhat time-consuming, but it is necessary in order to reach the message intended.

For example, if "confusion" is an orginal word drawn, "reserve" may be the word intended.

Then punctuation is added thru the rtcm.

Interpretation of words, phrases etc then follows, until meanings intended are clear with the rtcm.

Generally, there are several circumstances uncovered in a reading, and often these circumstances do not relate to each other.

The Sage has helped me to see that layers are being uncovered in this way for me to recognize, in the correct order they need to be uncovered.

Phrases, thought patterns, ideations, understandings of myself or others, voices of my self, of the Sage, of other Helpers, of others, of belief-systems.., are uncovered.

One corollary of this last point is that "ego" is now very very rarely used in this dialogue with the Sage through the rtcm. Instead, the ideas, phrases, images, emotions etc which form the matrix of it (or them) are what is focused upon, and in such a way that my self can recognize it, how they are accepted, what effects they lead to.., and, most importantly, what it feels like to move on.

(Note, along this way, very rarely therefore do I ask for and receive a hexagram for one particular situation for help. Also, the Sage also has made it clear that hexagrams and line-jugements are not necessarily primary messages intended in these kinds of "readings")

Along with dream-work / the rtcm, I am helped most to see what things I followed from the past (mis)understanding of things, such that with learning the Cosmic Way, I am able to see more clearly how Cosmic principles apply...

I have gathered together my experiences of using the I Ching as a practical guide to life over a period of 40 years in a book entitled '40 Years with the I Ching' So far I have not been able to find a publisher for this work, but am willing to share some or all of it via this blog with all interested parties.

Re: clearing your inner space (Centering yourself, pp. 682-683). In my meditations, I usually start by taking whatever random thoughts pop up and load them onto the wagon of the Helper of Transformation. This sometimes took awhile b/c the same (or similar) thoughts kept popping up. I was having some difficulty clearing out the inner space until I had an particular meitation experience. I saw that each thought that I loaded onto the wagon had strings attached. Some of them were like ropes, some of them were like cellophane noodles, almost invisible. These strings or ropes were ego emotions attached to the various thoughts and phrases that I was trying to load onto the wagon. So I had to coil up the ropes and toss them onto the wagon in order to truly clear out the space. When I did that, I felt unburdened and was able to open myself to the Sage without agitation.

      Hi Leslie,
Would it be possible to start a category about the RTCM? I attended the 7/13 One Day Seminar and found the sharing experience very helpful.
      Thank You, M

it's really great to see this site!
It looks great too, & very well made!
I find the grey on white though, while looking very good is unfortunately very difficult to read on screen.
Maybe it depends on screen resolution but my monitor is 19" (@1024 x 768) so dont think its that it's too small
Anyways look forward to reading a bit.

Thanks, Leslie, for such a creation. I "work" with the I Ching: Oracle... almost every day and am grateful for conversation about what I learn. I don't have a private computer, so I won't write you consistently, but will make an effort to send real experiences and insights. I am not real sure how to "do" a blog, either. Learning as always by mistakes and some teachings,
      Thanks,

Thanks for the blog. Would it be possible to allow for subject headings for the posts? That way we can find topics of special interest to us, like the name of the hexagram when we post insights into particular hexagrams, for example.
