Last Friday I attended the One Day Seminar on the Retrospective Three Coin Method. It was very helpful to see it used to go back to a situation and ask questions about the original no no no answer to adopting a dog who turned out to be a wonderful gift. I used to assume that when I was getting confusing messages that the sage had retreated from me. It really opened my mind to other possibilities including the idea that the sage is teaching me something and that I should keep in mind that it wants to have a working relationship with me.

I have been surprised many times over the last few months to get no no to questions about hexagrams that felt true to me. I find it confusing that the Sage would answer no to something that was good for you. In my current experience, it almost felt like the Sage was challenging me to follow what felt true to me regardless of what an "authority" had said. Do you think it's something like that? Sometimes I also think it's showing me seed phrases or beliefs my ego holds by saying yes to things that shock me. Does anyone have any insight into why an rtcm would indicate I need the Sage to help me with deprogramming but not the Helpers or vice-versa?

to your last question I have no idea. You say: "it almost felt like the Sage was challenging me to follow what felt true to me regardless of what an "authority" had said. Do you think it's something like that?" - have you tried asking that question with the coins? e.g. you could meditate a couple of minutes on it asking for help & then ask with the coins..
I get unexpected answers when I'm asking a question I already know the answer to "inside-of-me" (eg with help of intuition or common sense) or when I'm being demanding, or impatient, or being a bit dependent on the coins - not saying any of these are the case for you!
Dont know if any of that helps good luck Reply to this

I've been working really hard at making sense of what seems to be 'unexpected' or not logical answers and it's forcing me to dig deeper and deeper into myself and my truth and what happens eventually if I can hold out trying to get an answer to a particular question using a particular hexagram is that finally I will 'understand' and arrive at the truth that I am desiring to experience, but it takes work and patience. So I think the energy of the I ching facilitates growth in us when we are ready and willing to do the work. Non-logic usually means for me that framing the thoughts and concepts are not appropriate or my ego is interfering with the process. I know this is the case when I get this impatient feeling of 'alright already, just tell me' - The sage doesn't work like that. Sometimes the lesson is just to walk away for a while till I have peace and clarity and 'can hear' with my soul. Reply to this
