I have been having trouble keeping my dog in the backyard for the last two months or so. He has tried digging under the fence and when we blocked those openings, he began ripping 2x4's out of the fence and escaping that way. It's clear he doesn't want to get away from home because he comes back to the house and waits to be let back in. I am afraid of him being hit by a car or hurt by a roving pit bull or being picked up by the pound. So I consulted the I Ching about why he is ripping up the fence. The hexagram I received in response was 43 - Resolution/Breakthrough (!!!) and 34 - Using Power. While it is clear that the dog is exerting his will by finding new ways to escape the yard, it seemed clear to me that it was also referring to the fact that there has been a block on my own will connecting with the senses and that this was an area I need to work on by deprogramming seed phrases that imprison my will. The rtcm confirmed this +++. Using "power" like chicken wire and other obstacles will not work on him. I have no idea if this insight will help me see what's going on with the dog but I do suspect that he may be acting as an animal helper pointing to a way in which I am blocked and couldn't see otherwise. All the ways in which my ego tries to control me (and the dog) will not work if my will is aligned with my senses. This is what I take from this hexagram.

I have been surprised many times over the last few months to get no no to questions about hexagrams that felt true to me. I find it confusing that the Sage would answer no to something that was good for you. In my current experience, it almost felt like the Sage was challenging me to follow what felt true to me regardless of what an "authority" had said. Do you think it's something like that? Sometimes I also think it's showing me seed phrases or beliefs my ego holds by saying yes to things that shock me.
Does anyone have any insight into why an rtcm would indicate I need the Sage to help me with deprogramming but not the Helpers or vice-versa?

Thanks!

Each of the 64 hexagrams has a topic, a name, a purpose, some given area or intent. Hex#39 Meeting Obstructions offers us a commentary and set of 6 lines for exploring this theme. We can use the rtcm to enquire about the personal relevance of each section, line and paragraph regarding where we feel obstructed. It is another way to investigate our feelings (or in this case, confusion, frustration, or lack of feeling). Hope this helps - I just myself went through the process, and for me it was useful to investigate through the indicated sections.

Thanks, Leslie, for such a creation. I "work" with the I Ching: Oracle... almost every day and am grateful for conversation about what I learn. I don't have a private computer, so I won't write you consistently, but will make an effort to send real experiences and insights. I am not real sure how to "do" a blog, either. Learning as always by mistakes and some teachings,
Thanks,

Kathairein

I was glad to read this because I have felt stopped in my tracks at almost every turn of working with this method. So much so that I have really wondered why I keep persisting. So, thank you for your posting.
